This elegant ryokan boasts a modern design, with fabulous views over Sagami Bay and first-class service.
Sekaie, whose name translates roughly as “World House,” operates under the theme “Inbound and Health,” meaning they’re especially welcoming to visitors from abroad, and they gear their offerings – cuisine, activities and services – toward optimum health and vitality. Needless to say, all rooms and facilities are nonsmoking (although there is a smoking room if you’re desperate).
The facilities and rooms are all comfortable and quiet, and boast top-of-the-line fittings and amenities; all rooms also have rotemburo open-air baths that look out onto lovely, restful views over Sagami Bay and the town of Atami. The ryokan boasts an abundance of art, mostly pieces from the collection of owner Kenichi Omae, including some paintings that are registered national treasures.
All this, and the premium omotenashi – traditional Japanese hospitality – for which ryokan are famous, make Atami Sekaie an excellent base for exploring the area, or as a destination in itself.
Ocean View Superior
These rooms have beds in a choice of twin or double, upon request. They also have spacious verandas, with ocean or garden views, as well as an inviting rotemburo open-air bath with a comfortable sitting area.
They boast 47-inch TVs, high-end audio systems, full minibar, and coffee and tea service.
The bathroom has a heated floor, and the amenities are premium imported brands, including Millennium Mother shampoo, conditioner etc.
